Excellent animation, poor sound/spelling

The good: your animation style is excellent. You handled a serious topic in a serious and entertaining way. Very haunting images. The song is a perfect complement to a very disturbing story - an excellent choice to set the mood.

The bad: While the main theme song is great and fits well, the weird breathing/sound effect things sound very amateurish and are very distracting/annoying. Also, if you're going to have a text-heavy flash, you must do a better job of spell-checking before submitting content. Spelling the word "loading" with two g's on the opening screen is inexcusable.

Very well done flash, but some increased attention to detail will make it flawless. Good work.

HippoOfDoom responds:

i spelled loading like that on purpose, i also changed the preloader to the classic NG one since mine wasn't working. Thank for the comments.

Hate the clocks, but love this movie

This a great example of what good can come out of a clock movie. Very well animated, clear speech (not easy with Speakonia), funny, wonderful interactivity with the menu, and a good plot. Solid work.

BeatnikClock responds:

That's the spirit.

One of the best sprite movies

I usually don't like sprite movies, but I gave your Castlevania movies a try and they are both great. Very good use of so many different characters, decent voice work, great choices with music and a nice plot to tie the long works together. I ordinarily might not have sat through a flash this long, but you made it worthwhile to do so. Very well done.

The sex jokes at the beginning of each movie, along with the rampant profanity, are just unnecessary, and take away from the overall quality of the flash. The piece is well done enough that it doesn't need those kinds of things to prop it up -- the seemingly random cursing seem forced, not fitting well with a flash that would have been unaffected its omission. Have confidence in your work and its quality -- don't lower its integrity with gratuitous/tasteless moments like those when they're not necessary.

As I said, overall, a great piece of sprite flash -- this coming from someone who ordinarily doesn't like the genre at all. Keep up the good work.

Excellent -- and thanks

Don't listen to the previous reviewer -- anytime you want to use my music for any flash is a great idea in my view. :)

Thanks for using one of my songs, and especially for using it in a very well-made flash. I'm usually not a sprite fan, but this was very well done; you made the FF7 battle music fit in an unexpected context (in Metroid) and the animation is very solid.

And by the way, for a first flash, this is absolutely extraordinary. Most firsts are understandably scrubby, but yours came off like it was made by a seasoned pro. Great work.

ShowNoTears responds:

Wow. Thanks. I didn't expect a review from one of the artists of the music I used. I'm glad that you enjoyed the movie and the way I used your music.

Kittie!

Really nice animation style -- sounds were perfect, and you managed to really do a lot with expressionless characters. Not easily done, but you pulled it off well.

And the choice of Kittie for the massacre scene was PERFECT. Kittie rules.

Well done... but the click-me arrows have to go

A very well done sprite movie (and I tend to hate sprite movies).

However, I think I speak for most people in saying that the inclusion of the clickable arrows to further the dialogue is mildly irritating to people. You can acheive a better submission (and a better score from reviewers) by simply making the dialogue advance on its own.

Very good work.

zealotterror responds:

I thought people was gonna like following the movie with click arrows. I´m gonna try without in my next submission.

Coolness

Excellent choice of music - really fits the flash well and adds atmosphere. Very well done.

Cool idea... make it longer!

Nice idea, and great use of the trails on the light sabers. The sound of the saber strikes are also excellent. Looks like something you could extend into a really epic flash.

Only criticisms would be that the background is a strange choice - it resembles a lego construction or a burned-out Barbie dreamhouse. Also, the end is not really satisfying, though it does bring in a little humor.

Overall, great work.

Oh.... my..... God.....

Wow.... two things:

1) That was absolutely fantastically animated. Great idea and PERFECT execution.

2) That was also perhaps the most disturbing and emotionally scarring thing ever submitted on this site. You are a severely scary person. Great f'in work!

All right... ya got me.

Man, I hate the clock movies so much... but this was just completely awesome. Brilliantly animated, fantastic audio, really funny. Just a superbly done LOTR parody. This is one that even clock-haters have to love. Really really great.

Thanks for listening!
