Wow!

That is an excellent remix. Great use of trance-like instruments, cool tension, real nice transitions. A great piece. Hope to hear more from you soon.

AeroZ responds:

Thank you. Im quite new to remixing so Im learning. Im a great fan to all squaresoft music so it will be more Remixes from those games ahead. Tnx again.

Good stuff!

Sounds cool -- you took a nice little 7-note phrase and evolved it into a whole piece there, and it works well. You used a good amount of variety and phrasing to make the piece not sound repetitive, but the song would probably sound even cooler if it were more densely orchestrated, or harmonized in some way. Good work.

Harddrive100 responds:

Thank you for nice rating. I really appreciate it when people say good things about my music, mostly because I didn't think it would be that good. You gave me the same comment as everyone else has so far. I need more instruments. I know I need more instruments, and I'm working on one that has more as I'm writing this response. It might take me a while though. lol.

Rocks!

This is AWESOME. I like this better than your final boss loop. Very Castlevania/Mega Man styled. Definitely a great energy and a ice dark feeling to it. I like the crescendo near the end of the loop. Really adds something.

A flash artist might have to crop the end to get that little gap off and make it loop perfectly, but this would really be great for game bosses. I hope people take advantage of it.

Grumbleduke responds:

Have you listened to "Into the Maelstrom" and "Dark Exultation"? They are the same pieces but better made.

Great remix!

Great choice of song, and a solid remix. The synth-melody is a little bit loud in the mix, but other than that, the song is damn solid. Good diversity of instruments, and nice arrangement, really making the song your own.

Grumbleduke responds:

I spotted that when I brought it home (I did it on another computer and it sounded fine on that one). It bugged me because I couldn't change it without resubmitting it. It's not so bad though. Thank you for leaving a review.

Dense

Solid harmonies and great depth of composition. Excellent variety in instrumentation. You've got a great grasp of how to create tension and drama in a short piece.

Metalcan responds:

Thank you Tritone.

Well done, but a few notes off

Hey man, excellent choice of song and the tone on the guitar is solid.

A few moments in the song are off by a few notes however -- try grabbing a midi file of vgmusic.com to double check the exact notation of the song.

Also, the suggestion of adding drums is a good one -- this song kicks ass and needs something to give it a little more depth to go with that guitar line.

All in all, a very good start.

DarKsidE555 responds:

Ah damn, you just choosen my shittiest cover to review >_<. Ah well, it was my first attempt of recording, I started with it this year and have a lot to improve...I will redo this with drums.

I know that there are a few notes off, but it should sound a little bit different for my friend. When I hear it know I'm not happy with the tune, but I'm suprised that it has quite a couple of downloads.

Anyways, thanks for checking it out dude, I'll keep an eye on you! :)

*applause*

F'ing wow. Just an excellent piece. Super heavy riff, vague reminiscence of Vai in the melody articulation -- really a superb piece of music.

Metalcan responds:

F'kin thanks! I'm actally playing a JEM 7V SBL (Vai signature model).

Spectacular

A brilliant submission -- very Michael Romeo-esque. I'm not crazy about the resolution to a b2 in the melody line in some of the phrases, but the song itself is amazing. The solos are crisp and clear.

Metalcan responds:

I tried to find that "b2" you were talking about (I have no idea what that is :P) Thanks for the nice reviews! I've only heard one song from Symphony X, I can't remember the name though...

Good, but needs something more

This is probably my least favorite of your submissions -- it feels like a strong start to a piece, but I was disappointed when more parts didn't enter afterwards. I felt like this piece would have been better served by some denser construction entering after the first 8-12 measures -- some thick, busy drum part, a droning string arrangement, some techno blips in a really high register and a couple of random sound effects accentuating the rhythm. Consider condensing this piece into an intro and then really making it explode into a bigger cascade of sound, like you do in some of your other works.

All in all, good work.

ADT responds:

Out of the five I made so far this one is my least favorite two! I just could see anything else that would fit in it!

Good stuff, long intro

I'm not a fan of the genre ordinarily, but you pulled this one off pretty well. Good development of a theme, and good variations make for a satisfying piece. Good work.

On the negative side, it seems like the synth-voice sometimes enters a little bit off the beat. This may be intentional, but I think the piece would have more of a driving rhythm if all the parts were completely in sync with each other -- like a juggernaut.

Also, the piece takes a little longer than I would have like to really get going. You might be able to crop out a few measures from the very beginning -- particularly before when the closed hi-hat part comes in -- to jumpstart the listener earlier.

Very good.

ADT responds:

Thanks for the review! I was not sure if I should have made it shorter so I didn't and looking at it I think I should have.

Thanks for listening!
