Interesting take

Admittedly, I'm biased -- I'm a guitarist, so I miss the heavy guitar riff that goes with this. But, the synthed/electronic twist you put on this song is pretty neat. Well-executed and definitely a unique version.

Good work on this -- it's not easy to play something this heavy and layered and not have it sound muddy or over-compressed, but you pull it off nicely, mixing it well and not squashing out the guitar.

Still, I think you need a hug. :)

Excellent -- great improvement

Very nice -- you clearly fixed the timing issue and you tightened up the tone on the guitar a little bit, and the chorus/flange was a nice touch. Very tight.

This has got to be my current favorite of all your submissions.

One of the truly all-time great NES songs, peformed with flawless execution, a couple of brilliant touches to make the song your own, perfect "liquid" tone on the guitar, stellar mixing. How anyone could give this song any less than a five-vote is beyond me.

This sets the bar for video game music submissions on NG. Bra-f'ing-vo.

Good ideas, but a little overlap

Hey man -- great tone on the guitar parts and it is a really cool melody. However, in the multitracking, the several melodies going on at once don't mesh/harmonize as well as you might have liked them to -- the multiple melodies, while each solid on their own, have a number of notes that harmonize with the other melodies in very dissonant intervals (in several spots one melody will be playing a note one whole step away from another. In simpler terms, the two notes are right next to each other -- which creates a powerful clash to the listener. While this is a very useful device to indicate tension in spots, when it's used too often, the resulting piece gives the appearance of the melodies being in conflict with each other, rather than harmonizing or meshing together.

In songs with multiple melodies going on simultaneously, try looking more at the big picture -- rather than focusing on making each melody great unto itself, focus on the ways that each one interacts with the other(s) and how the group of melodies sounds as a whole. The result will be a richer experience.

Consider harmonizing your melodies (or at least some key moments where the multiple strains meet) in more consonant, smoothly blending intervals such as thirds, sixths, and even fifths and octaves, rather than seconds and sevenths, which have a much starker effect.

Yeah, I know exactly what you mean about the tracks clashing alot, and if it was somewhat of a big project, I probably would have ended up reworking it a bit. As is though, this was more just a "spur of the moment" thing, I pieced together.

I had completely forgotten about this song. You did an excellent job recreating it, and your tone is just perfect.

Not the best song in my opinion from F-Zero, but you definitely made it better.

A couple of barely perceptible slips on the fast runs, but the average listener won't notice, or won't care. Really well done.

Sounds pretty damn cool to me -- but I don't think you'll dethrone the mighty ParagonX9... his reign is supreme. ;)

Some of the wicked solo at the end gets a little lost in the mix, but if you listen carefully you can hear some pretty awesome shit goin' on.

Okay, this cements it. Am I right in hearing the Kirk Hammett influence all over your leads? Very good stuff.

The opening is also very Pantera -- reminds me a lot of some of the clean/crunch intros on Vulgar Display of Power, or maybe The Great Southern Trendkill. Definitely a positive.

The only criticism -- it sounds like one of your strings is badly out of tune. Could just be an effect of the reverb/chorus, but the opening clean intro riff suffers a little because of it.

Overall, another excellent submission.

Cheers mate. The out of tune sound is probably down to adding too much reverb on it. I usually tune my guitar before I record something, maybe I forgot to do it this time though. I can't remember!!!

The leads are just straight forward GoreBastard. I don't listen to alot of Metallica, so if I sound like Kirk, then that's just coincidence (awesome coincidence!).

Pantera however, are a massive influence of mine. R.I.P. Dimebag.
